Finally

i know that many of you have been anxiously awaiting to see how my orange sweater looked on. and now with no further adieu here it is.

(drum roll sfx)

Me Wearing the Orange Sweater

and in the spirit of completed projects here's a picture of david wearing the scarf i just finished. he's also holding the godzilla he had been painting that i wrote about in an earlier entry.

David wearing his new scarf and painted Godzilla

here's another photo of david wearing the scarf in a more of a swanky pose.

David wearing his new scarf

kinda groovy, no?

btw, the backdrop of the photos is the palms trees and australian flax that are in front of our house. they are getting quite full and tall.

thanks everyone for your compliments. the sweater had its challenges but it was well worth it in the end.

the sweater pattern is "Jessy's Flames" from Stitch 'n Bitch Nation. i substituted the colors and left out the flame motif that is on the sleeves.

the orange yarn is Cascade 220 #7824 and the brown/green stripe is Cascade 220 #9459. it took 5 skeins of the orange and only a few yards of the brown/green for the entire sweater (medium). Cascade 220 is pretty reasonably priced.

the scarf pattern is actually a cable/rib pattern that i modified from a purse pattern i found on knitty.com. i actually need to wet block the scarf to show off the cables better since steaming didn't do the job. i'm going to wait until the weather gets warmer so that david can enjoy the scarf now that the it's been cold here. you can see a close up of the cable in an earlier entry "Returning to Knitting Roots".

Hi Keith (fellow Bay Area knitter here),

The sweater looks wonderful! The color and style look great on you, and what a nice job on a first sweater! I haven't gotten that far in my knitting yet. Lots of hats and scarves.

But I will...
